About Our Parish

St Sava Serbian Orthodox Church in Phoenix, Arizona, was established in 1958 by a small group of devoted Serbian Orthodox families. Their mission was to preserve the Orthodox faith and pass it on to future generations.

In 1961, the Church Hall was built and served as the primary space for Divine Liturgy, as well as community gatherings and fundraising events. These efforts led to the construction of our current church building in 1974. The hall was later expanded in 1983 to include additional space for Church School classes.

As our Parish continued to grow, so did the need for more dedicated space for religious education. In 1997, construction began on a new building designed specifically for this purpose. Completed and consecrated in 2000, this became the St. Sava Cultural Center—home to our Church School classrooms, church offices, and library. Today, St Sava Serbian Orthodox Church in Phoenix has grown from a handful of founding families to a vibrant Parish community. We welcome several hundred parishioners each week, and during major feast days such as Pascha (Easter) and Christmas, our Church embraces thousands of Orthodox faithful from various backgrounds.
